French fighter jets have made the first air strikes against Click militant group calling itself the Islamic State (or ISIS) in Iraq, said a statement issued by the office of President Francois Hollande.
The statement said French planes attacked militants logistics warehouse located in the northeast region of Iraq.
France had already sent his spy plane to Iraq and provide assistance to the Kurdish fighters weapons.
President Hollande on Thursday (18/09) said it has approved a request by Iraq to the presence of air support, but it will only target the militant group Islamic State in Iraq, not residing in neighboring Syria.
He also confirmed that France would not send ground troops.
On Friday (19.09), the office of President Hollande declared that the Rafale aircraft carried out the attack and "shoot and destroy the target completely."
However, this statement does not mention the details of the type of material that is in the warehouse, or the exact location.
"Other operations will be conducted in the coming days," the statement said.
